Saturday morning in the state game lands.

I spent the morning in one of Pennsylvania's state game lands. This particular one is north of Lititz. Here are some of the pictures I took.

This is the ovenbird. It's scientific name is Seiurus aurocapillus referring to the distintive orange strip on his head.

Lots of fragrant honeysuckle.

Learned a new wildflower: Venus's looking glass, Triodanis perfoliata.

This is an ebony jewelwing, a type of damselfly.

Unfortunately I was a couple of days late to collect these to eat--the bugs beat me to them. They're oyster mushrooms.

I thought this was a swallowtail but it lacks any tails.

We spotted this sign on the way to beach and took a picture on the way back.

Memorial Day at Bethany Beach

Kathryn Peris got directions from David, we picked her up at 3 AM hoping to see the sun rise (It's a 2 1/2 hour trip from Lancaster, PA to Bethany Beach in southern Deleware), and spent a foggy morning at the beach.
